the tourist

i received a bottle of red wine from the program director today, for being a part of a successful program progession. the program's on course for an on-time delivery despite having the schedule pulled in by a couple of months. ahh the perks of being a member of a core team. just so you know, it's a bottle of kendall-jackson pinot noir. i think i've got a christmas present for my room-mate.

yesterday started with a bang! almost literally.. when i saw the company's announcement that it will be acquiring a competitor for almost usd2-billion (pending sec approval and whatnots of course). think about it.. the leading disc drive company in the world is gonna gobble up the third largest disc drive company without even blinking. and there we were.. bashing the same company across our board rooms in the last 2-3 years only to come around and say that we're gonna absorb them into our existence. the irony of it all. i'm pretty sure it makes financial sense somewhere along the way though. i'm just glad that i'm still employed.

same time last year, i embarked on a fitness regime that lasted for almost 3 months. and, no, i neither got a rock-hard abs nor ridiculously big biceps, like i 'aspire' to have, but i'm very sure i've become more fit. it's more about how you feel at the end of it all. watch your diet and live an active lifestyle. and laugh more too! i'll be having 2 4-day weekends (christmas and new year's) and i have no idea what i'd do. heck, i could easily do nothing at all but i figure i might as well do something or go some place. really don't know what to do yet. i'm still stuck at work when more than half of the people here have bailed out since lunchtime. maybe they have a life out of work. i do too and i'm ready to call it a day.
