sad statue

are donuts motivation enough for anyone to be at work early on fridays? maybe. for some reason, the allure of heavily, sugar-y frosted pastries is just irresistable. alrighty then. the past week has seen the draw for the 2006 FIFA world cup.. perhaps the single greatest sporting event to be held to date. all of the major footballing nations have been drawn into favorable groups and should negotiate 'small fry' nations with ease. and hence making the kockout stages looking like a footballing fantasy tournament! my two picks, argentina (again) and the netherlands, were drawn into the same group C, by far the 'group of death' of the tournament. ivory coast and serbia&montenegro are by no means pushovers and could potentially cause upsets to the two favorites. and i have an argentina-netherlands final on the cards.. a repeat of the 1978 finals in which argentina won on home soil. this time around, though, i think the netherlands will win it all. perhaps the longest shot to ever win the world cup. oh, the defending world champions brazil will fall to their bitter south american rivals argentina in the semi-finals. perhaps carlitos tevez, a hero with the brazilian champions corinthians, would put one over his brazilians counterparts, the irony of it all. it should be a spectacle!!
